Microsoft quietly rolled out a major redesign of Bing Webmaster Tools in February 2025. The update is the most significant overhaul of the platform in several years, with a completely new dashboard, improved reporting, and several new features that bring it closer to parity with Google Search Console.
What's New
The redesign touches almost every part of the platform. Key changes include:
- New performance dashboard — A redesigned overview showing impressions, clicks, CTR, and average position at a glance, with improved date range filters and comparison tools.
- Enhanced IndexNow integration — Faster URL submission with clearer feedback on indexing status and processing times.
- Page-level diagnostics — New per-page reporting showing why individual URLs may not be indexed or ranking as expected.
- Content keywords report — An updated view of how Bing interprets your site's topical focus, helping identify keyword cannibalisation and topical authority gaps.
- Mobile usability report — New dedicated section for mobile-specific issues, mirroring Google's Mobile Usability report in Search Console.
IndexNow Improvements
The IndexNow updates are the most practically useful change for SEOs who manage large sites. The new submission interface provides real-time status on URL processing, estimated indexing timelines, and clearer error messages when URLs are rejected or flagged for review.
For sites that have implemented IndexNow (the open protocol that allows instant URL submission to Bing, Yandex, and other participating search engines), the improved feedback loop should make it much easier to confirm that content is being discovered and indexed promptly.
Should SEOs Care About Bing?
Bing's market share (roughly 3% globally, higher in specific markets and demographics) means it's rarely the primary focus for most SEOs. However, several factors make it worth monitoring:
- Bing powers both Microsoft Edge default search and Copilot AI — meaning its reach extends beyond traditional search.
- In B2B and enterprise segments, Bing's share is significantly higher (some estimates put it at 10–15% in corporate environments).
- Sites that rank well on Google generally rank well on Bing — but there are exceptions, particularly around freshness signals and E-E-A-T.
The new Bing Webmaster Tools improvements make it meaningfully easier to monitor and optimise your Bing presence. Given the low time investment required, it's worth adding to your regular reporting workflow.
How to Access the New Dashboard
The new dashboard is being rolled out to all Bing Webmaster Tools accounts. If you don't see it yet, check back over the next few weeks — Microsoft indicated a full rollout by end of February 2025. Access Bing Webmaster Tools at bing.com/webmasters.
