Microsoft has announced a significant redesign of Bing Webmaster Tools, overhauling the dashboard interface and adding new features aimed at making it more useful for site owners and SEO professionals. The updated platform rolled out gradually throughout February 2025.

What's New in Bing Webmaster Tools?

Redesigned Dashboard

The most immediately noticeable change is the new dashboard layout. The previous interface, which had remained largely unchanged for several years, has been replaced with a cleaner, more modern design that prioritises key metrics — clicks, impressions, average position, and CTR — in an at-a-glance summary view.

Navigation has been restructured into more logical groupings: Performance, Sitemaps, URL Inspection, and Diagnostics. Users who found the old interface confusing will notice an immediate improvement.

Enhanced Performance Reports

The new Performance section provides more granular data on query performance, page-level traffic, and impression trends over time. Notably, Microsoft has added the ability to filter by device type and country with greater precision than was previously possible. Historical data now extends back 16 months, up from the previous 6-month window.

IndexNow Improvements

IndexNow — Microsoft's open protocol for notifying search engines of content changes instantly — has received several upgrades. Site owners can now submit bulk URLs more efficiently, view a history of IndexNow submissions, and see which URLs were successfully indexed as a result. The improved IndexNow dashboard makes it much easier to understand whether your submissions are working.

New Diagnostic Tools

A new Diagnostics section groups together URL inspection, crawl error reporting, and site health checks. The URL inspection tool now provides more detailed information about how BingBot renders and indexes individual pages, similar to Google's URL Inspection Tool in Search Console.

Why This Matters for SEOs

Bing's market share — while far smaller than Google's — is significant enough to warrant serious attention. Bing powers Microsoft Bing, DuckDuckGo (partially), Yahoo, and AI-powered searches in Microsoft Copilot. For some industries and demographics, Bing drives meaningful traffic.

The improvements to Bing Webmaster Tools make it considerably more useful as a complementary tool alongside Google Search Console. The extended performance history and improved indexing visibility are particularly welcome.

Quick tip: If you haven't set up Bing Webmaster Tools for your site yet, now is a good time. You can import your existing Google Search Console properties directly — it takes less than two minutes.

How to Access the New Interface

All Bing Webmaster Tools users have been automatically migrated to the new interface. Simply log in at webmaster.bing.com to access the updated dashboard. Your existing data, verified properties, and sitemaps have been preserved.

Our take: This is a genuinely welcome update from Microsoft. Bing Webmaster Tools has historically lagged far behind Google Search Console in functionality. The new interface is cleaner, the data is richer, and the IndexNow improvements make it easier to ensure Bing is crawling and indexing your content promptly.
